Hurry, there are a few openings in The School of Opticianry at Seattle Central Community College for Fall quarter 2011. Seattle Central has the only accredited, associate degree program in Opticianry on the West Coast. There are jobs available for Licensed Dispensing Opticians.

Opticians prepare lenses for eyeglasses, dispense eyeglasses, interpret prescriptions from physicians and optometrists, and can even fit contact lenses. Some opticians work in a retail setting while others may work in hospitals or eye clinics. The School of Opticianry has graduates who have gone on to open their own successful businesses! According to the U.S. Department of Labor, opticianry is one of the best professions for job security.

The School of Opticianry is a two-year self support program that offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in Opticianry. The program prepares students to sit for the Washington State licensing examination. A license is mandatory to practice as an Optician in Washington State. Prerequisites: High school transcript and eligibility for ENG 101 and MATH 084.
