Want to know more or make an offer?
The Nickelsville homeless project is seeking donation to help build Strawbale structures to help the homeless during the winter cold months. Hopefully we will be holding straw bale building workshops so that other might learn how easy and beautiful strawbale structures can be. Backyard cottages, winterized chicken coops or music studio, Strawbale structures are incredibly affordable, simple to build and last a long time!
We are hoping to build several structures. Each small cottages takes 80 bales or $200

questions on straw bale structures
Hi! A few questions:
Where will the structures be erected?
Do any actually exist at Nickelsville at this time?
Are they mobile, to be used elsewhere if the camp has to move?
What is the roof composed of and its cost?
What is the floor composed of and its cost?
What is the cost of the windows?
Is a permit needed to erect/place the structure?
Who does the actual assembly of all of the components: roof, floor, walls, windows?

That's all I can think of for now -- thanks so much!

Sizes
Finding Land to put them on is the issue. The 1% won't allow people to work so do you expect them to allow the masses out from under the overpasses after their Banksters put them there?

RE: Sizes
Perhaps all this talk about housing the homeless is unnesesary, We should impose a fee to reside in the city of Seattle...say around $500 per month per person. This would discourage the homeless and poor from living here thus reducing the need for social services, welfare, reduce crime and a myrad of other costs associated with the poor and uneducated masses. the revenue from the residency permit fees as well as the savings in reduced social costs could be used in beautification projects, to support the arts, infrastructure improvements, education etc. help the poor! buy a bus ticket for a bum! i hear California is nice this time of year.

great idea. don't be discouraged. keep up the good work.
This is a great idea. If you need funding, try run a kickstarter.com campaign, it's free to run a project on the site... a project like this would probably get the funding it needs, especially anything that is eco-friendly and sustainable.

Since you will more than likely have major issues as to where you can place these buildings in the city... you can always sell these for about for a profit to home and land owners, patch garden groups, etc... sheds, coups, studio's etc... and take the money to help shelter and provide for the homeless in other ways. You might even be able to launch a small non-profit from this....

also, don't let the negative comments discourage you from people sitting in front of this blog, sipping their morning coffee and getting ready to go to their nine to five job with benefits. no one deserves to sleep out in the cold.

awesome idea! keep up the good work!
